Art of Cooking: Magic Bars Pastry
Mix the crunchiness of nuts with the gooey texture of melted chocolate and sweet shredded coconut combined with crispy honey graham crackers and the fruity goodness of cranberries for a delectable treat that will have everyone’s mouths watering with delight! Magic Bars are literally magic and that’s because they disappear right off the plate the minute their placed on it!
What You’ll Need:
- Honey Graham Cracker Crumbs
- Craisens
- Semi sweet chocolate morsels
- Sweetened or unsweetened shredded coconut flakes
- 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
- crushed pecans or walnuts
- 9 x 9 inch deep baking pan
- unsalted butter
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease pan with unsalted butter or unsalted spray butter like pam.
Make sure to spray the bottom and sides of the inside of the pan. Melt about 1/2 cup of unsalted butter – enough to cover the whole bottom of the pan. Cover the butter with a layer of crushed graham cracker crumbs.
Add a layer of shredded coconut flakes on top of the crumbs. Flattened with your hand.
Add a layer of semisweet chocolate morsels.
Add a layer of Craisens (dried cranberries) or you can substitute it for another dried fruit if you want to experiment. Add a layer of pecans on top.
You can slightly mix the craisens and pecans together so that they stick to the chocolate but don’t mix all of the layers in your magic bar creation together.
Drizzle a 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk on top. Then add one final layer of graham cracker crumbs.
Put in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes then allow to sit in the pan until it cools. Cut into squares and serve!
