Most Purchased Modern Furniture in 2020 Recap
There were a ton of furniture trends in 2020. Especially with so many people staying at home during the health pandemic. Let’s take a look at the most purchased items in 2020.
Scandinavian-inspired all wood nightstands
A couple variations on this design, these Scandinavian-inspired nightstands were flying off the metaphoric shelves in 2020 for bedroom furniture. All wooden, walnut finish, hidden handles, and 2 drawer / cubby design.
Vintage leather sofas with button tufting and bolster pillows
Super retro with a contemporary flair, these leather sofas came in a medley of vintage-inspired finishes like tan and dark gray. They were a hot living room item in 2020. Several variations on the style too. Some with button tufting, bolster pillows, vintage colors and upholstered entirely in leather.
High-back velvet upholstered dining chairs in bold colors
Incredible how much of a comeback velvet made in 2020. All wood and molded fiberglass dining chairs took a back seat this year. In came fully upholstered velvet dining chairs with high backrests and in bold colors, such as emerald green, sapphire blue and blush pink.
Stationary side chairs turned modern home office chairs
2020 put the brakes on seating with wheels for home office desk chairs. We began exploring the vast world of modern seating for our desks outside of the typical “office chair.” Aesthetic and comfort became the most important factors in home offices for 2020.
Hanging swing chairs
Staring at the same old furniture in 2020 became a thing of the past, especially after being confined indoors for the entirety of the year. Hanging swing chairs in different styles added a dynamic and even a fun approach to living room seating in 2020. Whether attached to stands or hung from the ceiling, these chairs put the swing back in our living room step.
Upholstered headboards and fully wooden bed frames
Bed frames were a bit of a toss up in 2020. Some of us were buying fully wooden platform bed frames, while others were opting for the fully upholstered headboards in chic shades of heather and dark gray. Metal bed frames lost out big time in 2020.
These popular items were making their way into homes all over the country in 2020. They are continuing to flood into the new year. We can’t wait to see the new modern furniture trends as we flow into 2021.
