The National Speed Skating Oval, nicknamed “Ice Ribbon Stadium” gains its pseudonym due to its unique facade. It is made from 22 large-scale, ribbon-like light strands, encircling the entirety of the building and illuminated at night appear to be in motion. Of course, this pays homage to the art of speed skating as they flow around around the oval dome giving it the macro version of a speed skaters motions if seen from high above.

The light strands are in a vibrant icy blue color, another cleverly designed way of demonstrating its icy contents held within.
