Colorful Cubist Facade Transforms Cabo Verde Village Home
Designed by Eltono, what was once an earth-toned and natural home in the island country, Cabo Verde, is now a colorful work of modern art.
An array of colors in art deco hues form a cubist pattern.
The facade began as a plain white wall enveloping the home. Next, the palette was inspired by colorful laundry blowing in the wind drying on a clothing line outside.
The shapes and the composition was designed using objects and geometric elements he discovered around the home and observed in the landscape during his time there.
The home is the last house before the mountains, at the end of the small village of São Vicente and stands out amongst the existing homes, rustic exterior and mountain ranges surrounding it.
Abstract and geometric shapes of all different sizes are pieced together like colorful blocks building a story as seen through the eyes of the artist in collaboration with the family he was creating it for.
