Downtown Clifton Hotel, Mid Century Modern with a Snazzy Spin

Downtown Clifton Hotel in Tucson, Arizona does things a little differently – offering guests a casual and comfortable time during their stay. It’s easy to miss as you enter into Downtown Tucson but its a hidden treasure in the mix. Beaming in neon turquoise you will see the “Downtown Clifton” retro sign on their ranch style hotel.

As you enter the parking lot, you are greeted by a large-scale modern wall mural of two skeletons in cowboy hats in the painted by local artists.

Enter the hotel office to find it decorated in handmade southwestern style silver and gemstone ring, necklaces and upcycled decor like an industrial, rusted metal standing lamp shaped like a saguaro.

Next, sift through their collection of records from classic rock and old school funk to jazz quartets and psychedelic folk rock with a choice of a record player for your selection during your stay there.

Accoutrements in the room include raw bars – scrumptious and healthy energy bars and artisan popcorn all made in Tucson, the fridge is stocked with water bottles and classic glass bottle soda pop. On the dresser, two large binders with vintage Arizona and Tucson magazines dating back to the late 80’s and early 90’s featuring incredible photography giving visitors tips of landmarks and natural sites to check out. 

Original abstract paintings hang on the walls plus retro lamps and vintage furnishings to light the room and place your belongings in.


A colorful and striped Southwestern style blanket is draped on the large and cozy bed for a comfortable rest with a tv mounted in the corner for those who like to watch the tube before falling asleep.

Downtown Clifton Hotel is a vintage oasis with that cool and laid back 70’s style we all know and love.
