Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Smothers Park in Owensboro, KY
The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum reopened it’s doors this October in it’s new location, on the waterfront of the Ohio River in Owensboro, KY. The Bluegrass Music Hall hosts events and live performances.
The museum showcases bluegrass music legends and bluegrass music culture with photographs, instruments and attire. Additionally, it offers workshops to learn fundamentals of bluegrass music, how to play in a bluegrass band and live jams for musicians to come together. Families and music lovers can enjoy the town and Smothers Park while visiting which is open to the public year around.
The waterfront and park has multiple piers, gazebos and swinging benches overlooking the river to relax and enjoy the view. Music plays continuously throughout the park. In the center of the trail, there are gushing fountains during the day to cool off which are also lit up at night creating a lovely light show.
A massive cascading fountain flows into the river creating another visually pleasing spectacle. Artwork adorns the lawns such as hand-painted sculptures and others made of limestone. A large playground with a jungle gym and miniature waterpark called Lazy Dayz for both children and adults provides an interactive environment where learning and fun come together.
Stepping away from the waterfront and into the town, art murals on the sides of buildings, functional sculptures, restaurants, boutiques and beautiful architecture around every corner. For nature lovers, there is a large lake for fishing is only 10 minutes away and the world’s largest sassafras tree. Owensboro is a hidden gem in the heart of the Kentucky.
