Trend Spotlight: Metallic Accents

Modern interiors can fall victim to bland colors and boring design if an attentive eye is not given to every detail. One of the latest trends to hit the interior design world is metallic accents – the perfect way to spice up a room that needs a jolt of color. Golds, silvers and bronzes are all tones that work well in small doses amidst the more intense blacks, browns and whites that modern design is known for. It may be difficult to find ways to incorporate metallics, but if you have any tables that are standing dormant, a bare floor that could use a rug, or a sofa that needs an accent pillow, try using metallics before you grab the tried-tested-and-true (but sometimes boring) staples of modern design like black and white.

I think a lot of designers, and home owners alike, use neutral colors, or traditional black and white colors because it’s the “safer choice.” Using a metallic color, for example, features a furniture and interior in ways traditional settings cannot.

I agree, also it’s sometimes tough finding a stylish solution in a metallic shade.
In terms of rugs, the only subtly metallic floor covering I’ve come across is this big shaggy area rug that combines a tone with corresponding metallic thread. (http://www.nicerug.co.uk/product.aspx/126/Allure_Shaggy_Rug)
It’s lovely, I had it delivered a couple of weeks ago and haven’t worn shoes in the house since!
Hope it’s a useful suggestion to any other readers looking for a metallic rug.
