I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF LOW PLATFORM PIECES – Despite my height I have always liked low platform pieces, whether it is a bed, bedside table, TV stand, dresser or anything else. Because of this I really like this side table (one drawer,) console (two drawers,) dresser (four drawers) combination. The pieces come individually in either gray, chocolate, or blond though there are pictures of it in a darker wood color as well. Personally I think the black looks the best, but if there is anything I like more than low platform pieces it is black and white furniture!

CAN YOU REALLY CALL IT AN ARMCHAIR, IF IT HAS NO ARMS? – The oddly named Anna Armchair poses that exact question. Obviously there are no arms on this piece, but despite its awkward name it still has a very appealing look to it. Designer Hirohiko Kamiya has created a modular armchair-sofa that is composed of de-structured, padded tubes measuring nine meters long that can be folded into countless different variations. Personally the creativity of something like this is very appealing though I am not entirely in love with the color scheme. But the idea of being able to change your furniture without having to buy new pieces is obviously ingenious, and I would imagine some very creative people have made some quite interesting pieces out of their Bulldang.

IT’S ALWAYS NICE when the lounger itself appears to be lounging; West Elm’s Futon Lounger is about as relaxed as it gets, with a generously padded mattress that just begs to be occupied. Its ground-hugging chocolate-stained hardwood frame is distinctly Asiatic in style, with a slight upward kick towards the end. Available in twin or double sizes, we’d definitely prefer the latter to fully accommodate our lazy inclinations.

WE CAN’T HELP IT: it looks like a cute alien spacecraft and we love it. Elucidesign’s Aileron Coffee Table has a forward angled shape and wrapping contours that give it an organic, otherworldy appearance. Viewed from any angle it looks halfway ready to fly or run; we can’t decide which and this ever present tension is what gives Aileron something most coffee tables only dream of having: a personality. One last thing: the top is actually two panels that slide apart; the images don’t suggest it, but we’d surmise there’s an extra leaf included.
